Colder Weather and Dry Skin Problems

Not only do I have to deal with fighting the wrinkles and lines, but I have to find solutions to dryer skin during the winter months. Skin care problems for myself are worse during the colder weather.

The winter months can be especially damaging to the skin. The wind blows harder and colder, the temperature drops, and moisture becomes depleted in the skin causing skin dehydration, scaling, and flaking cracked areas. Areas such as the lips, elbows, knees, heels, and hands become particularly parched during this season. UVA rays in winter are as intense and cause as much damage as UVA rays in the summer months. So you see the skin care problems increase in winter times for most.

My face gets so much dryer during the winter time. My regular face care products doesn't seem to work as well then. I also have problems with dryer skin on my legs.

I know that I'm not alone with this problem. After shopping around at local stores and trying out various skin care products, I found that they just don't offer what my skin needs.

The following are some pointers to help alleviate and prevent these conditions, whether in the dryness of winter or in an arid climate.

First, and foremost, cleansing should be done with tepid water and a lathering gel rather than with hot water and soap. Hot water and soap are too harsh and can strip our Natural Moisture Factor and cause flaking of the skin.
